There are 4 controls in addition to the bypass switch that allows the effect to be switched in and out of circuit. A true bypass scheme is used, the effect is active when the halo ring is illuminated.Some typical settings….The blue halo light ring installed diffuses the light when playing live, avoiding being blinded by the standard LEDs just as you are about to go into that all important solo thus giving a larger area to see where the pedal is located easily on the pedal board on darkened stages. The addition of the large aluminium foot topper gives you more real estate for contact when switching the pedal on and off during quick changes when playing live.All Flattley “Platinum Range” pedals are hand processed in our Flattley paint shop. The bare aluminium enclosure is abraded prior to painting with the etch primer. The etch primer acts as a anti corrosive layer and allows the primer to bond to the enclosure ensuring a tough resilient paint finish.Multiple coats of base coat primer are applied which are then lightly abraded to remove any blemishes or paint speckles prior to the application of the base colour. We apply several coats of base colour until an even coverage occurs and the base colour develops rich smooth depth. Metallic holographic chrome flake is then applied using a clear inter coat which adds that all important Flattley sparkle.The pedal enclosure is now ready to be hydro dipped in its Flattley graphics. This is the process whereby the graphics are applied using water activated film, the residual PVA film is then washed off and the enclosure is then allowed to dry naturally.Once dried the lacquer process begins. Each “Flattley Platinum” pedal has a minimum of three coats of lacquer which are all wet sanded between coats. Once the lacquer has hardened, it is then hand polished using three different grades of polishing compounds and it then has a final polish to achieve a high gloss finish using a wool finishing pad. This process gives the smooth deep lustre finish that is inherent in all Flattley Guitar and Bass effects pedals.

This Box of Rock™ simulates Zachary’s favorite amp turned up all the way, a 1966 Marshall® JTM45. The tone control adjusts brightness and there’s a high-headroom low-noise boost.The Box of Rock™ is Z.Vex Effect’s first “distortion” pedal, highly specialized to simulate the “everything on 10” sound of a classic Marshall® JTM45 non-master-volume amplifier. You may use the Box of Rock™ effectively with many differ-ent amplifiers. Once you’ve set your maximum needed drive on the pedal, use your guitar’s volume control to adjust for the exact amount of distortion you need, all the way down to very clean and clear with most drive settings. You will notice the words “distortron engine” on the Vexter version of this pedal (no, that’s not a misprint) on the pedal. This is what I named my distortion circuit... call me crazy. The Box of Rock™ also contains an extremely high-head-room, unity-to-50X gain booster with nominal input imped-ance and low hiss. It is very similar to the SHO boost cir-cuit, with refinements to make it sound more like a standard amp input and less glassy. The boost channel can be used alone or in conju#nction with the “distortron engine” channel. This is a five-knob fuzz using two new old-stock sixties germanium transistors. The circuit is not modeled after any classic fuzz design, but should have been around when Leary was still lucid. Although the five knobs are named for the parameters over which they seem to have the most control, please don’t hold me to it. They are controls for vari-ous operating levels and biases, and basically shape you a personalized fuzz. The Woolly Mammoth 7 (WM7) is somewhere between fuzz and overdrive or distortion, definitely unusual and unique in sound. The WM7™ features a Marshall™ style tone stack with Bass, Mid, and Treble controls. This is a departure from the original Woolly with its single tone knob. The tone stack allows for expanded tone shaping capability. Being able to switch it in and out of the signal path makes it a valuable tool for sculpting fuzz into dense soundscapes. The tone stack is switched in and out of the circuit with the footswitch on the lower left portion of the pedal. This feature allows you to bypass the tone circuit completely. The WM7™ fuzz without EQ has its own unique voice, much different from the sound of a WM7™ with tone stack, or the single tone knob of the standard Woolly Mammoth™.
