The SOMA '63 Vintage Preamp is the first pedal in Greer Amps' XFR range. The SOMA '63 is a true vintage pre-amp based on the sound and feel of brown era vintage amps from California.
This pedal simulates the entire preamp, phase inverter, power section and even the feel of the old 10" speakers from Utah that were built into these famous brown amps.
The Tone Stack is designed to give the user a wide and dynamic range of sonic possibilities. The Presence control works in conjunction with the Tone Stack and is designed as a wide range control that affects the overall sound of the entire circuit. The SOMA '63 features a steel core transformer in the audio signal path. The transformer contributes to the overall sound shaping of the circuit, and when the gain is raised sharply, especially on higher output pickups, the small steel core transformer becomes saturated, just like a vintage amplifier.
The SOMA '63 can be used as a sound-shaping preamplifier or overdrive pedal. The SOMA '63 offers a wide range of sounds, so spend some time with your new pedal and find the sounds that rock your world!
The pedal can be operated with a standard negative 9-18 Volt power supply with center nagative. On 9 volts the SOMA '63 has more grain and texture. At 18 volts you can expect more headroom, a slightly stiffer response and less grit overall.
