With circuitry that's more complicated than many digital delays,

Now a lot of people will ask why the hell we decided to rebuild this pedal when you can get an original HM-2 used relatively cheap?

The answer:

Because I (Matt) wanted it and it was a real challenge. Like many of our replicas, it became an obsession and a difficult task to get the right tone. As usual, it went far beyond creating a schematic.

It became a task that required good ears and many hours.

In addition, a hand-wired, hand-assembled circuit board with 1/4 watt metal film resistors instead of the 1/8 watt carbon film of the original is a beautiful thing.

The background noise is dramatically reduced, and colored overtones become much clearer. Add to this the usual Wren and Cuff luxury of 100% mechanical, true hard wired bypass, rugged all-metal alpha pots mounted directly on the chassis, a modern and vintage toggle switch, a rugged metal enclosure and a beautiful piece of art... And you can immediately see the value of the Hangman 2 compared to the original.
